Cathy has more than 20 years of perioperative experience, with an emphasis on orthopedic service lines.  Her broad perioperative services knowledge base has clinical, educational, and administrative perspectives.  As a Senior Clinical Consultant with Premier, Inc., she managed 34 successful consulting engagements in orthopedic total joint and spinal service lines.  Earlier, as a Director of Surgical Services for St. Joseph's Mercy of Macomb in the metropolitan Detroit area, she successfully obtained a Certificate of Need for five additional operating rooms.    Working directly with that hospital's physician staff in a competitive marketplace, she increased volume while also recruiting additional surgeons.  She implemented process improvement initiatives to decrease turnover time and increase scheduling capacity, and was responsible for implementing a surgical information system with intraoperative documentation, as well as contract negotiations for a single-source neurological plating vendor, and the completion of a suture vendor conversion.  Her career has been marked by taking on increasingly responsible administrative positions:  most recently as Administrative Executive/Vice President, Surgery Service Line, and earlier as Clinical Coordinator Orthopedics, and Clinical Manager -- Surgical Services.  Her administrative responsibilities have included Inpatient and Ambulatory Surgery, Preoperative Unit, PACU, Pre-Surgical Screening, Endoscopy, Sterile Processing, Inpatient Nursing, Critical Care, Vascular Lab, and surgeons' office practice management.  She has spoken to regional and national healthcare professional associations.
